Redesigned Africariyoki's social gaming platform web interface and user experience to increase engagement.
Short intro video.
Africariyoki is a social gaming platform that brings friends together to play games and sing popular songs. As an established platform, Africariyoki wanted to improve its web interface and user experience to better engage users with song instrumentals. As the lead designer on the project, I was responsible for conducting user interviews to gather insights and creating personas, user flows, components, and high-fidelity designs to guide the redesign process.
The primary challenge for the project was to improve the web interface and user experience of Africariyoki's social gaming platform to better engage users with song instrumentals. This involved identifying pain points and opportunities for improvement in the current user experience, as well as developing design solutions that are both visually appealing and intuitive to use.
The specific challenges we identified included:
One of the challenges we identified was the need to improve the platform's navigation. The existing navigation system was confusing and made it difficult for users to find and access different features and functions. Users also found it difficult to find and select the songs they wanted to play and sing along to.
The Karaoke page was also confusing. The layout needed a bit of improvement to give a more intuitive experience for new and old users.
Game UI
The game feature of the Africariyoki platform was also a key area of focus for the redesign. I wanted to make the game feature more engaging and competitive, with better game UI flow and scoring systems.
I wanted to emphasize social interaction between users and improve Karaoke and Africariyoki games with better multiplayer features.
By addressing these and other related challenges, the redesigned Africariyoki app provided a more compelling and entertaining gaming experience for its users.
The redesign of Africariyoki's social gaming platform follows a user-centered design approach that includes heuristic evaluations, user research, and iterative design. The design process begins with an analysis of the current platform to identify usability issues and potential design solutions. Wireframes and prototypes are created and tested with users to ensure the design meets their needs. Visual design and implementation follow, with usability testing and feedback collection helping to refine the design.
Conducted a heuristic evaluation of Africariyoki's current platform to identify usability issues, such as confusing navigation, unclear labels, and inconsistent design.
Reviewed user feedback and engagement metrics to identify pain points and areas for improvement in the current platform.
Analyzed competitors' platforms to identify best practices and potential design solutions.
Developed user personas and user flows to inform the design process.
Created wireframes and prototypes to explore potential design solutions and test with users.
Developed a visual design system that is consistent with Africariyoki's brand and incorporates feedback from user testing.
The result is a platform that is optimized for user engagement and satisfaction.
Conducted usability testing with users to evaluate the effectiveness of the new design and identify areas for improvement. Collected feedback from users through surveys and interviews to further refine the design. Iterated the design based on user feedback and further refine the design to optimize the user experience.
The improved design has resulted in a significant increase in user engagement, with more users spending more time on the platform and participating in the games and karaoke features. The redesign has also received positive feedback from users, who appreciate the enhanced user experience and improved interface. Overall, the Africariyoki redesign project has had a significant impact on the platform's user engagement and satisfaction, ultimately leading to increased success for the platform.
